Overview

At EV Blocks, we are dedicated to pioneering the future of sustainable transportation by providing cutting-edge EV charger foundation solutions. With a firm commitment to quality and innovation, we designed our foundations to offer unparalleled reliability, efficiency, and performance. To ensure proper in-field performance, our products have been tested to meet the demands of today’s charger sites, which includes:

  •  Adapter Plate rated for ANSI Tier 15 loading (22,500 lb) for passive or future-proofing applications 
  • Adapter Plate to concrete connection that can withstand up to 175 mph winds

Analysis approach

Adaptor Plate Connection

Our analysis approach is divided into two sections. First, we examine the connection between the charger, the adapter plate, and the concrete foundation, using data from our testing (see Resource Library). Below is a connection curve that correlates the charger’s surface area and design wind speed, assuming an 8-foot-tall (2.4m) charger.

In-Ground Base Stability

If the plate connection analysis proves sufficient, we proceed to evaluate the foundation’s stability within the ground, considering the onsite soil conditions. This analysis utilizes the foundation’s weight, passive soil pressure, and side soil friction to counteract the overturning forces caused by wind loading. The soil pressure coefficients are derived using Coulomb earth pressure theory. An example of the calculation process can be found in the Resource Library, and an analysis calculator for performing similar calculations is available upon request.
