Granted Extra Time: The UK’s EV Infrastructure Grant

    With prominent car manufacturers swiftly transitioning from traditional petrol and diesel engines to battery-powered alternatives, there is a pressing need for infrastructure development to accommodate the surge in these innovative vehicles. The infrastructure to support all these new vehicles needs to get up to speed too.

    This urgency is further emphasized by the government’s ambitious target for the UK to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.

    With businesses and organisations under pressure to lower their carbon footprint whilst onboarding greener practices (e.g., electric company vehicles), the UK government has created the EV Infrastructure Grant in addition to the existing EV Charge Point Grant.

    There are various EV Infrastructure grants available, from commercial fleet car parks to flat-owner car parks. For example, for business staff and fleet car parks, the grant covers 75% of the cost, up to a maximum of £15,000. Applicants can receive up to £350 per EV point installed and up to £500 per parking space with supporting infrastructure, such as ducting, passive foundations and EV pedestals.     Deadline extension

    Since recent news of the government declaring to phase out petrol and diesel car sales by 2035, it has granted us (pun intended) extra time and extra funding to ensure local infrastructure is up to par for electric vehicles. The new deadline for applications is until 31st March 2025.
