Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme

The grant offers up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing a charging unit at your property and can be claimed on most fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles currently available on today’s market.

You can claim one home charger per eligible electric or plug-in vehicle, and up to two eligible vehicles per household. Your home charger must be OZEV-approved and installed by an OZEV-approved charge point installer.

Am I eligible?

To qualify for the EVHS grant:

1. 1. You must have purchased an eligible electric or plug-in vehicle from 1^stOctober 2016 onwards.
   2. You must have off-street parking, such as a driveway or garage.
   3. Your home charger must be OZEV-approved and installed by an OZEV-approved charge point installer.
   4. You must provide evidence of keepership, lease, and be named as the primary user of the vehicle or have a vehicle on order.
   5. The date of installation must not be more than 4 months ahead of the date of delivery or start date of vehicle use.
   6. OZEV application must be completed 6 weeks prior to the date of installation of the Homecharge unit.

How do I apply for the EVHS grant?

You can claim for the grant by asking an electric vehicle Homecharger scheme-approved installer to apply for the grant on their behalf. Customers cannot apply directly for a grant. Installers are required to process claims as this ensures that the requirements of the scheme are fulfilled and minimises the risk of incorrectly completed claim forms.

The installer will need to verify that you meet the requirements and that the property is also suitable. In some instances, customers will need to contact their distribution network operator to upgrade their property’s electricity supply before work can commence. Installers will inform the customer if this is the case.

Once work is completed the installer will offset the grant amount against the cost of the installation and apply for a grant rebate from OZEV. The customer will be invoiced for the cost of the installation less the grant amount the installer intends to claim.

The customer is expected to help the installer complete the grant application form by verifying the information provided is correct and providing any necessary documentation or information that the installer requires.
